My name is Ann-Marie Dykstra and I’m a Speech-Language Pathologist (more commonly called Speech Therapist) certified with the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). I’m proudly based in Tavares, FL and serve the wider Lake County region.
I received my Masters in Speech-Language Pathology in 2010 from San Diego State University, while simultaneously being fortunate to intern at the VA Hospital. It was here I had truly found my calling working with the medically complex adult population.
I then went on to complete my Clinical Fellowship at Mission Hospital, a large Level II trauma center in southern California. After 10 years working at various medical facilities across the United States, I decided to take the skills I acquired and open up my own mobile speech therapy practice for adults serving Lake County, Florida. My hope is to bring much needed specialized treatment and healing for those in need of our services.
Cobalt Therapy is a privately owned mobile speech therapy service for adults. We are currently the only company in Lake County that provides valuable diagnostic measures for voice and swallowing disorders through use of flexible endoscopy called FEES (Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing). Not only do we offer invaluable diagnostic services, we also provide in-home therapy to residents of Lake County, Florida.
Our licensed speech-language pathologists specialize in swallowing and voice disorders, as well as cognitive communication difficulties. We offer unique services such as our mobile FEES and Videostroboscopy unit, electronic stimulation (or e-stim) for swallow therapy, and LSVT LOUD for improved intelligibility and volume.
Communication and swallowing disorders are disruptive. They not only affect the lives of the diagnosed, they impact families, caregivers, careers and aspirations. That’s why we offer in-home care to ensure that the therapy we deliver is right for you.
We work with compassion, expertise, and the shared goal of tailoring speech therapy to your needs and lifestyle.
We accept original Medicare Plans and out-of-network Insurance. Please see our services pages to learn more about how we can help.
Unlike most rehab companies that offer a variety of therapy services, Cobalt Therapy solely focuses on Speech Therapy for adults. Our therapists have over 10 years of experience within complex medical conditions that impact communication, cognition and the ability to swallow. This also means that you are less likely to be on a wait list as most rehab companies only have one speech therapist on staff. Because we only focus on Speech Therapy, we are able to grow a supportive level of staff to ensure you get seen. We also invest more in the needs of our patients by utilizing diagnostic procedures like our mobile FEES (Flexible Endscopic Evaluation of Swallowing) and Videostroboscopy unit for a more comprehensive assessment of swallowing and voice deficits.
We accept Medicare Part B plans as well as most out of network insurance coverage. We do all the billing for you, so you only pay if you have a co-insurance/co-payment. Those payments can easily be set-up on your patient portal. This also reduces the chances of our company ever having a long wait list which is what can happen at outpatient centers that accept most insurance plans. If you are restricted by your current insurance, we have cash self-pay options that can offer much value as a supplement to an existing plan.
Please read this article to learn more about whether you would benefit most from therapy under your Medicare Part A vs Part B benefits and why it matters:
Because we are only in network with Medicare and not the commercial replacement plans, we are allowed the freedom to truly determine what is clinically necessary for your recovery. We determine together how many times to be seen based on your needs. This also reduces the chances of our company ever having a long wait list which is what can happen at outpatient centers that accept most insurance plans. If you are restricted by your current insurance, we have cash self-pay options that can offer much value as a supplement to an existing plan.
Cobalt Therapy is currently a Medicare B Provider and accepts all patients under original Medicare as well as those with insurance plans that cover out of network services. While we are not a provider for Medicare Advantage (or Medicare Replacement) plans, some will make exceptions if you can not find a Speech Therapist in their network for your area.
This also reduces the chances of our company ever having a long wait list which is what can happen at outpatient centers that accept most insurance plans. If you are restricted by your current insurance, we have cash self-pay options that can offer much value as a supplement to an existing plan.
We do all of the billing for you and you only need to pay if you have a co-payment/co-insurance portion. The only requirement for your care to be covered by Medicare is that you can not currently be receiving speech therapy for the same services. You also can not be in a home health episode receiving benefits under your Medicare Part A benefits. That would mean that you are already getting therapy services in your home and/or nursing visits under your Medicare Part A benefits. Confusing? Yes!
