Specializing in Adults with Complex Medical Needs

Owner & Speech-Language Pathologist

I’m a certified Speech-Language Pathologist (more commonly called Speech Therapist) with ASHA (American Speech-Language Hearing Association) with over 10 years of experience with the medically complex adult population.

Prior to receiving my Masters in Speech-Language Pathology in 2010 from San Diego State University, I had a 10 year career as a stunt performer. I specialized in freestyle tricks on the stand-up jet ski and eventually grew more skills as I performed for various theme parks around the world. I finished my career in Los Angeles after achieving my Screen Actors Guild card which allowed me to perform stunts for major films. Little did I know at the time how much all that training would assist my knowledge for what I do today. Like most athletes, I acquired a number of injuries and got to know what physical therapists do first hand. Training muscles when they are healthy vs repairing them when damage has occurred allowed me invaluable insight for my next career as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).

When I went back to school at 32 years old I knew I wanted to help people recover from their injuries but wasn’t quite sure how. I was introduced to what speech therapists do by my Biology professor and decided to take a leap into the field when I realized the medical side that rarely gets talked about. By the time I was in graduate school, I was fortunate to obtain an internship  at a VA Hospital. It was there that I first worked with numerous medically complex patients.

I had truly found my calling.

My first position after graduate school was with a major level two trauma center. There I was able to work with mentors and other professionals who had extensive backgrounds in the medical field. The skills and certifications I earned through the guidance of my more experienced colleagues provided a strong foundation for my work. My roll at the hospital involved performing extensive diagnostic procedures such as Modified Barium Swallow studies and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing, as well as carrying out medically complex treatment programs. I continue to learn to this day and am particularly fascinated with growing technology that is helping to make major advancements in our field to benefit diagnostic assessments and therapy programs. I’m excited to extend my experience and skill sets through my own private practice to allow for greater personal care and quality of service.
